Apple Sucks It Yet Again

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

The one or two people who actually visit this site on a regular basis know that my love affair with Apple is more like a bad marriage with fucked-up kids. While everyone’s masturbating to every new version of Apple’s products, I’m scratching my head wondering where they hire their product designers and engineers from…art school?

Now it seems the gatekeepers for the iTunes App Store are also coming from the land of OutOfTouch. I know people who’ve had to deal with the Berlin wall that is Apple’s App approval process and I have yet to hear someone say they had a great time. The latest cracks me up. TechCrunch posted an article about Start Mobile which has a photo/image gallery app they’re trying to get out there for your consumption. I won’t go off on the tangent I’d love to go on about the utility of a fucking app dedicated to showing you art…great idea but what the fuck do I care about having some fucking art viewer on my phone?

I digress. The beauty of it is the apparent stupidity or maybe bias of the reviewer that seems to have voted for “the other side” in the last election and doesn’t want to do anything to further promote Obama’s victory. Or maybe it’s a racist thing? The reviewer doesn’t like black people? Then again…I don’t recall the last time I’ve seen a black Apple employee up on stage…maybe they are a bunch of racists holed up across the bay from Oakland…someone should go over there and have a talk with them.

All I can say is the App review program is starting to look more and more like the US Patent system which I’ve long derided. You’ve got a handful of overworked people thinking they know everything about everything and because they’re swamped they fall back on really basic rules to determine the viability of what goes through. Of course, Apple seems biased in a different way since they want to control the “image” of their platform. But, so far, all they’ve done with their image is made the App store look like a bazaar filled with a bunch of hucksters where fart applications breeze through but apps that make you think or, in this case, pay tribute to a better President than we’ve had in eight years should consider a new day job.

Apple, you can’t suck enough!
