Also, the only reason they call it "Microsoft Office Open XML" is to confuse people "What? Microsoft Office is Open Source with XML?"...Microsoft should be barred from using the word "Open" in any form...that is the most Closed company ever... Now because of that, some lawyers are getting a lot of money and the court system is spending our taxpayer dollars to settle it. And, depending on the process you're talking about, who knows where else they might take their patent case if they set a precedent in court...or at the very least by settling (which can imply either side of the argument was correct but which side do you think i4i is going to push??). It's an old idea and it's a bad idea and they shouldn't have gotten a patent, but most XML doesn't infringe. Microsoft's Office Open XML infringes, ODF doesn't.
